Lock 8 - 1921: Lock 8 was the first in a series of 2 locks located near Bunting St. The two locks were needed in this location to help ships climb Homer Bar, a small increase in the elevation that marked the old shoreline of the ancient glacial Lake Iroquois.

Lock 8 - Today: Lock 8 is no longer here, but the route of the canal can still be seen running along the border of Kernahan Park High School located near Bunting St.
